About

I live with my family in Okeechobee, FL. My husband, Luke and I met and dated in high school. We both continued on to college at Southeastern University in Lakeland, where I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and Luke in Marketing. After graduating we moved back to our home town and were married in 2008. By 2009 we welcomed our first born daughter into our lives. I knew from the time my first daughter was born that I wanted to be a stay at home and Homeschooling mom. I was excited to see my child grow and learn from her early stages of life on. I wanted to help her learn, share with her my faith, and create a family that loved one another deeply.

Since our oldest was born we have now grown to a family of 6. Luke now works as a worship pastor at our church and I am still blessed to be a stay-at-home mom. I now homeschool our two oldest girls, and our youngest girl and boy are still preschool age. Every stage comes with its own joy and struggle, but I have no regrets. I love that I have been with my children every day that I can. I love teaching them to learn and seeing them grow. My calling is to love them and teach them all I can. It is a big task and often need help and encouragement along the way.

I teach. I craft. I lead worship along with my husband. I love coffee but can never seem to drink a whole cup in the morning. I like food with friends. I am working on being organized. I strive to make my home a place of peace. I run the race set before me. I choose joy.

Setting My Goals

One more week to go before another year starts. My oldest in 3rd grade, my second in 1st. Its seems unbelievable even now as I write it. UNBELIEVABLE! As one fellow parent once put it, "it breaks your heart doesn't it?" and it truly does. We spend all of our time and effort raising our children to achieve the next thing. Jump the next hurtle. But then when its happened we are left, mouths gaping at the half grown child standing in front of us. Each year as I plan my lessons and map out the weeks to come, I want to give my year a central focus. Last year my focus was to hide scripture in my children hearts. I made it a point every day to read and memorize a small passage of scripture. I found a book at this discount Christian book store for only $2 called Knowing God (Memory Bible Sing & Remember Book)  it contains 24 quick bible stories, scripture readings, and a song to help memorize scripture. One Year Later

Yesterday was September 13th. To the rest of the world this date doesn't have much significance. But to me and my family, it is a date that will always remind us to praise our Savior for his protection. September 13th of 2009, was the day that my water broke 13 weeks too early and started our 10 week stay in St. Mary's Hospital. Thinking back on that day I remember it being full of fear and anxiety. I remember thinking, "this cant be happening to me." I had no idea what was going to happen to me or my baby. In the beginning of my pregnancy I had chosen to have a midwife, mainly so I wouldn't have to be hooked up to a small command station or deal with the hospital madness. I guess God had other plans. The miraculous thing was, the whole time I knew that God was in control. For almost 3 weeks the Lord had led me to the first Chapter of James which talks about Faith and Perseverance. Pearly Whites

If I were to describe the past 6 days in one word it would be ... "teething". Now granted I had been warned of this event from the time my daughter was born. But, no one could have explained to me the extent of sweat and tears that go into it. For 10 months I had affectionately gazed at my Little Loves toothless grin, wondering when those teeth would make their debut. Well, they're here. Last Sunday I was holding Adelaide and she starts laying her head down on my shoulder. Aw, I thought, its so sweet she wants to cuddle. The next morning I knew why. She woke up with a fever of 101*. So I get out the Walgreens brand pain reliever (because Tylenol is no where to be found these days), and for 3 days I try to bring this sucker down! Eventually on Wednesday I take her to the doctor's office. The doc gives the prescription and all should be better by morning. Right? Not a chance.
