School Room Makeover

I am one week out from our school year starting, so that means its time to kick it into high gear and brush of the summer slump. Yesterday my three girls went to my mothers house for a sleepover (cue Hallelujah Chorus!) So I started working on the school room. This summer I had an influx of books given to me. Im talking 5 large boxes and bins full of BOOKS! I am a book lover for sure, but my poor book shelves just can't take any more. so between books, curriculum, games, and a grave yard of old colored pencils, I set out to bring order to all the chaos.                                                    A sneak peek at the before and after.  Here is a look at the before picture. Setting My Goals

One more week to go before another year starts. My oldest in 3rd grade, my second in 1st. Its seems unbelievable even now as I write it. UNBELIEVABLE! As one fellow parent once put it, "it breaks your heart doesn't it?" and it truly does. We spend all of our time and effort raising our children to achieve the next thing. Jump the next hurtle. But then when its happened we are left, mouths gaping at the half grown child standing in front of us. Each year as I plan my lessons and map out the weeks to come, I want to give my year a central focus. Last year my focus was to hide scripture in my children hearts. I made it a point every day to read and memorize a small passage of scripture. I found a book at this discount Christian book store for only $2 called Knowing God (Memory Bible Sing & Remember Book)  it contains 24 quick bible stories, scripture readings, and a song to help memorize scripture.
