School Room Makeover

I am one week out from our school year starting, so that means its time to kick it into high gear and brush of the summer slump. Yesterday my three girls went to my mothers house for a sleepover (cue Hallelujah Chorus!) So I started working on the school room. This summer I had an influx of books given to me. Im talking 5 large boxes and bins full of BOOKS! I am a book lover for sure, but my poor book shelves just can't take any more. so between books, curriculum, games, and a grave yard of old colored pencils, I set out to bring order to all the chaos.

A sneak peek at the before and after.

Here is a look at the before picture. I mean, Yeek! This kind only comes out but prayer and fasting people!

So I started by taking my old Dollar Tree bins that I use for my kids daily work and gave them a facelift.
I had a couple cans of spray paint in my laundry room that had been waiting for a project like this. This is how I usually work; I look around my house, feel dissatisfied with the general look and feel of things, rummage through my old project supplies and begin making something new.
I really loved this color. I also had some chalkboard spray paint that I used on our old red pencil caddy that I have had since I taught 4th grade... 8 years ago! Sometimes my pack rat tendencies pay off. I love the way the blues and blacks compliment each other.

I made a new sign to go over our calendar area. It too was spur of the moment. I wanted to replace the small "school room" with something larger. I had a piece of pallet word already painted white, looked up a quote for family rules and voila!

I'm so pleased with the way it all turned out. The little changes and some cleaning up gave this place a rest look.
